Associate Director of Development
The Associate Director of Development, University Events Office (ADOD-UEO), plans and implements strategies for development program to secure major and special gifts for the University Events Office (UEO) arts programs ArtPower!, ArtPower!Film and The Loft.
ArtPower! at UC San Diego is the university’s premier multi-arts presenter of music (classical, contemporary, jazz, global), international contemporary dance, spoken word and special events (artpower.ucsd.edu). ArtPower! Film presents an eclectic series of film experiences including the annual Up&Coming Film Festival for emerging talent. The Loft is a performance lounge and wine where emerging art and pop culture collide. The Loft is the only venue of its kind on a university campus in the United States. (theloft.ucsd.edu). Collectively these programs produce or present over 200 events per year in support of campus and community engagement.
The ADOD-UEO under the direction of Senior Director of Development, Student Affairs (SDODSA), and in close collaboration with the Director of the University Events Office, work with the UEO/Student Affairs staff and senior UC San Diego administrators to identify funding sources and priorities. Provide leadership in identifying funding sources and priorities including individual giving, grants (local, regional and national), and corporate giving. Prepare written and oral presentations to potential donors and coordinate approaches as defined by campus policy and procedures. Plan and implement solicitation and stewardship of gifts and donors. Develop gift opportunities congruent with University Events Office priorities and in-line with UC San Diego policies.
Proven experience in the full spectrum of development, including gift solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition, support groups and administration, with progressive responsibilities as a major gifts development officer.
Three to five years experience in fundraising/development work and events management; preferred experience in an performing arts and/or film program with demonstrated ability to build relationships and support for arts programs. Demonstrated success at raising funds from $25,000+ range by developing and implementing strategic solicitation fundraising plans that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in-line with institution and goals in higher education setting.

Program and Audience Development Manager
The ArtPower! Programs and Audience Development Manager is a leadership position that is responsible for the creation, implementation and evaluation of campus and community engagement programs related to the ArtPower! at UC San Diego performing arts season, presented through the University Events Office. This position is also responsible for communications and media relations for ArtPower! at UC San Diego and The Loft.
Under general supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the position acts as the primary contact to campus, community, cultural and educational organizations in developing partnerships that seek to create arts education programs to K-12 students and adult learners that serve to develop appreciation of and participation in the performing arts. Additionally, the position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of artist's residency as it relates to travel, accommodation, hospitality, outreach, house management and volunteer coordination. The position also manages and implements strategic local, regional, national and international communications that support audience development and education. Researches, writes and distributes news releases, public services announcement, public speeches, and program collateral including, but not limited to the season brochure, monthly mailers and electronic newsletters and blogs. Requires excellent writing and promotional skills that proactively develop the visibility and profile of ArtPower! and The Loft programs and initiatives in the larger community as well as a central part campus life.
