24 preludes by chopin, the rite of spring

Dubbed the high priestess of the avant-garde, Marie Chouinard unites the sensual and cerebral in her stark, iconoclastic, visually stunning works. Her provocative intelligence, idiosyncratic humor, sexuality, and meticulous construction have garnered her awards around the globe. As part of the worldwide celebrations marking the 100-year anniversary of The Rite of Spring, the company will be performing a work that occupies a special position in Chouinard’s oeuvre. Inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s musical score that marks the entry of dance into modernity, Chouinard finds an original pulsation that is essential to her movement. Vigorous, with wild body movements and exceptionally eloquent primitivism, her work is “something strong and earthly that shakes your very soul” (Le Nouvel Observateur, Paris). The program contains nudity.
