student film fest
Following our great success in 2008 with the inaugural UCSD Up&Coming Student Film Fest, we will once again invite an esteemed jury panel to recognize excellence in editing, sound design, set design, screenwriting, cinematography, and direction. Join us after the screenings for a discussion about the student work.
Panel Members: Beth Accomando, KPBS Film Critic; Joyce Axlerod, Founding Chair of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival; Oren Sarch, Film Editor (Pi); Jay Drose, UCSD Alumnus and Screenwriter; Tara Knight, award-winning animator and Associate Director of Sixth College, UCSD; Rebecca Webb, ArtPower! Film Curator; Anders Wright, San Diego Citybeat Film Critic, Michael Trigillio, award winning multimedia artist and UCSD Visual Arts faculty and Ligiah Villalobos, writer and executive producer of the award winning feature film Under the Same moon (La Misma Luna).
UCSD Up&Coming Student Film Festival 2009
The evening starts with live music by The Artichoke Collective (formerly known as Matt Swagler and the Dirty Birds)
Pizza served at 6:30 PM. Student film screenings will be followed by an award ceremony, and a post-screening discussion with a panel of media industry experts.
Award Ceremony: We will recognize one film each in the following categories: screenwriting, cinematography, art direction, sound design, editing, directing, acting, and the best picture award. Prizes TBA.
