A simple-minded prisoner with a talent for cooking moves his way up the jail cell ranks through his
culinary gifts. But just how he ended up there, and how he got to hone his skills in the kitchen, is
the real meat of the film. Estômago demonstrates that no matter who or where you are, love, sex,
jealousy, food, and death are truly the essential ingredients of life. [2007 Brazil/Italy, 100 min.]

<more-info>Scott Paulson

An oboist by training and a foley artist by trial and error, Paulson has turned up in high-profile theater events at Sledgehammer and Cygnet Theatre where his arsenal of sound effects and his trademark derby have marked him an avant-garde vaudevillian. Think Samuel Beckett meets John Cage.

Scott Paulson showcases a barrage of toy pianos, rare instruments and sound effects in his Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra. Each silent film event is an interactive experience as volunteers from the audience will be called upon to help. "My goal," says Paulson, "is to get the audience actively involved with the performance.”

Paulson's day job is as outreach coordinator for the Arts Libraries of UCSD. There, he presents (actually stages) monthly visual art exhibits on topics that intrigue him and draw from the university's academic and research departments. </more-info>
