As a part of our Architecture + Cinema series, we are screening the work of eccentric filmmaker and architect Peter Greenaway who creates a highly stylized and elegant Jacobean revenge tale about adultery and jealousy that pounces on your taste buds like a mouth full of hot pepper. Since this is also a Foovies, you’ll get to enjoy a delicious meal before the screening with recipes inspired by Greenaway’s culinary musings.
"Mr. Greenaway turns this tale of a bullying criminal and his unfaithful wife into something profound and extremely rare: a work so intelligent and powerful that it evokes our best emotions and least civil impulses, so esthetically brilliant that it expands the boundaries of film itself." --The New York Times
For your live listening pleasure while you feast: Scott Paulson and Christian Hertzog of the Teeny-Tiny Pit Orchestra for Silent Film will perform the chamber music of Michael Nyman, composer of the film’s score, on oboe, harpsichord, and other instruments. This film contains violence. [1989, United Kingdom, 124 min.]
Ticket price includes music, food, and general admission to the screening. Bites and beverages will be served starting at 7pm.
