Before the Food Channel created a fetish of food, there was Tampopo. In this humorous paean to the joys of food, a mysterious trucker rides into a small town to help Tampopo set up the perfect fast food noodle restaurant. As Tampopo perfects his menu, vignettes about food’s many diverse—and naughty—uses are folded into this delicious tale. [1985, Japan, 114 min.]

<more-info>Robert B. Williams, Musician

Robert Williams grew up playing the clarinet. Earning Bachelor and
Master Degrees in music performance, he played music running the
gamut of clarinet possibilities, from the classical repertoire
through the most contemporary Western works, to jazz and the musics
of much of Eastern and Western Europe, and the Baltic states. Robert
moved to the flute lured by Baroque music, and more jazz, latin, pop
and world music possibilities. He studied the musics of India and
Africa through Ethnomusicology at the graduate level and found his
voice in the rich tapestry of wind synthesis.
